From the Pastor
This New Year presents an opportunity for most Christians to "make amends" or "resolutions" for a different year ahead. Some will resolve to lose weight, others will be determined to stop an annoying habit, others will promise to get to the gym more consistantly, and still others will promise that 2012 will be the year that they begin to "walk the walk" and "talk the talk" with Jesus. Sadly, many people live a week or two with good intentions...but gradually return to previous habits. Oh well, there is always next year...right?
However, what would it mean to live the way Jesus desires for us to live? Is it even possible for a person to live the Christian life, consistantly, day after day, year after year? Jesus certainly does not expect the impossible. Jesus challenges us to live a simplistic life of love...love God, love Jesus, love your neighbor, love yourself, love your enemy, love the unkown unloved person. In doing so, you may not change the world...however, the world just might change you. Living a life of love allows one to live in "God's kingdom." Living a life of love allows us to live as Jesus lived. Living a life of love transforms us...and eventually transforms the world in which we live.
May this be the year we challenge ourselves to love more. May this be the year we challenge ourselves to hate less.
May God bless each and every one of us as we enter this New Year.
Blessings,
Pastor Scott
